“To my mind, a picture should be something pleasant, cheerful, and pretty, yes pretty! There are too many unpleasant things in life as it is without creating still more of them.”
― Pierre-Auguste Renoir
My favorite artist Renoir celebrated and commemorated beautiful moments in his life with his paintings. Before I enrolled in Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY in 2019, I usually clicked my camera shutter to capture tender moments. But nowadays, I do not find beauty only in joy, brightness, and fondness. John Smock, a photojournalism professor at Newmark, said that photojournalists should know how to find beauty from mundane sceneries, even in dark and depressing times.
My gallery here is the collection of the beauty that I found. Some are the recollection of my travels, and some are monuments to others’ lives.
